CREA Results is engaging communities in understanding barriers faced by Coloradans in accessing healthcare insurance. Since summer 2022 we have spoken with more than 1,500 Coloradans about health and healthcare coverage to understand their barriers, needs, and ideas for making access more equitable. The goal is to engage people eligible for Medicaid, CHP+ and Tax Credits through the Health Exchange who are not enrolled--referred to as eligible but not enrolled (EBNE).
The Challenge Driving Our Project
In 2019, nearly 265,000 Coloradans were EBNE in Medicaid, CHP+ or Tax Credits through the Health Exchange. Healthcare is critical in ensuring preventive and basic health needs are covered and in ensuring financial stability. Significant disparities exist among those who are EBNE, including a large proportion of children who are EBNE are Hispanic or Latino, representing a significant health disparity.
If you think you are eligible for healthcare insurance, or want to find out if you qualify for support through a program, the best place to go is Connect for Health Colorado. You can also visit the Health First Colorado webpage to apply directly for Medicaid and CHP+ programs.
