Promotores Verdes
The Promotores Verdes is a program that explores the interconnectedness of human health and the natural environment, while helping participants build their skills to protect the environment through engagement, leadership and advocacy.
Over the years, hundreds of families have participated in outdoor activities like walking and hiking in the mountains, where they learned to identify healthy and unhealthy trees and explored the importance of healthy ecosystems in nature to healthy people and communities. Through activities like an overnight camping trip, participants learn to plant their own bucket garden, and learn about the importance of healthy eating, active living and accessing healthcare services and screening when needed.
Promotores Verdes is provided in partnership with Americas for Conservation and the Arts (AFC+A), whose mission is to advance a healthy environment through arts, advocacy, education, and engagement of culturally diverse communities.
